CHICKEN FESTIVAL

About the Chicken Festival…
River and Prairie Storyweavers offer a storyteller retreat every year. A different location is selected every two years. RAPS likes to partner with local libraries and schools to provide storytelling programs to the community. Storytellers gather to share their craft in several genres. To allow time for all to tell, stories are asked to be 8-minutes or less except for the 1-minute Story category and Longer Story category.
A fun and raucous auction raises money to help RAPS fund its goals to support the art of oral storytelling and the people who practice this art. RAPS requests that donated auction items be new or offer a service. For questions about the auction contact RAPS.events@gmail.com.
Workshops are offered to help the community develop storytelling resources. Storytellers share their talents and experience to promote oral storytelling.
Storytellers and story lovers are invited to come together to enjoy stories and music. RAPS never knows who is coming and what stories and musical talents they bring. RAPS schedules time for story genres and music.
Registration is taken at the event. The Chicken Festival registration is $50.00 for RAPS members and $75.00 for non-RAPS members. RAPS membership is $25.00 for an individual or $35.00 for a family. RAPS accepts cash, checks and credit cards. Full registration includes lunch and supper on Saturday, January 17, 2026 so people do not have to leave the hotel to get food.
Attendees may be recorded or photographed for use by River and Prairie Storyweavers.
